Georgian Fireplaces

The Georgian fireplace is based on the classical orders and gives grandeur to larger rooms.

  • The Chillington
    The Chillington

    The Chillington is a handsome Georgian chimneypiece that displays the popular 18th century device of inlaying a contrasting marble within a White Statuary Marble field. It has a carved corniced mantel shelf above a 'running' frieze inlaid with Azul Valvende in a Greek Key pattern and jambs that terminate in delicately carved consoles. Shown with the Andover register grate and a Black Slate hearth.

  • The Fitzroy
    The Fitzroy

    The Fitzroy chimneypiece was selected by the Georgian Group to replace a pair of chimneypieces lost from its headquarters in Fitzroy Square in central London. The Georgian Group is the national charity dedicated to the preservation of Georgian building and gardens throughout Britain. Every year the Group helps save many important buildings and is instrumental in preserving Britain's unique architectural heritage. Shown here in Statuary Marble with Giallo Treviso Marble ingrounds, Osterley steel fire basket, Black Slate hearth and slips.

  • The Blenheim
    The Blenheim

    The Blenheim is a grand fireplace in the style of William Chambers. Carved in Statuary Marble, it has fluted pilasters with Ionic capitals and a frieze which incorporates a central tablet with an urn and foliage. Shown with Black Slate hearth and slips with Dorchester fire basket in Steel and Brass.

    The Clandon Bolection

    The Clandon Bolection fireplace is based on a Queen Anne design from the beginning of the 18th century. Its simple uncluttered lines combined with generous curves make it very flexible for use anywhere. Shown here in Limestone.   • The Northumberland
    The Northumberland

    A lovely example of an 18th century neo-classical chimneypiece, the Northumberland shows the influence of Robert Adam. It has fluted Ionic columns supporting an entablature decorated with classical urns and ewers. Inset marble panels in contrasting colours can provide a striking contrast to the Statuary Marble. Shown with Green Verde Marble ingrounds, Black Slate hearth and slips and a Croome fire basket in Brass.

    The Athenian

    The Athenian is manufactured in Statuary Marble with Etruscan Gold Travertine centre panel and Ingrounds. This is a chimneypiece of strong architectural form and good proportions. Shown with the Howard register grate and Black Slate hearth.

    A mid 18th century chimneypiece in Statuary Marble with breakfront corniced shelf and incorporating a Bolection moulding framing the aperture beneath a semi barrel frieze with a plain projecting centre tablet. Shown with the Georgian Steel register grate and Black Slate hearth.
